The automotive aftermarket sector keeps moving at a good pace. According to the latest data from the Observatorio del Estado de la Opinión Profesional de la Posventa (Aftermarket Professional Opinion Observatory), prepared by Sernauto and Ancera, both spare parts manufacturers and distribution groups closed the second quarter of the year with positive figures.
Manufacturers recorded a 3.2% increase in turnover, while distribution accelerated slightly more, reaching 4% growth compared to the same period last year. These figures reflect the resilience and adaptability of a sector that, despite economic and logistical challenges, continues to demonstrate its strength.
Forecasts for the third quarter are optimistic: manufacturers expect 3% growth, and distributors 3.7%.
If this trend continues, the end of the year could consolidate a positive performance, with annual increases of 2.8% for manufacturers and 4.1% for distribution.
This scenario confirms the recovery of the sector after several years marked by uncertainty and tension in supply chains.
Inventories, adjustments, and new balances
In the passenger vehicle segment, manufacturers report a decrease in the number of companies requesting returns or stock adjustments — an indicator of greater stability and improved inventory management planning.
On the distribution side, 26% of companies increased their spare parts inventory for passenger vehicles, while 22% expanded their stock of industrial vehicle components during the second quarter. Even so, the sector expects a moderation of these levels in the coming months, aiming for a more sustainable balance between supply and demand.
Despite all this good news, profitability and service quality remain two of the major challenges facing the aftermarket.
Once again, the aftermarket demonstrates its ability to adapt, endure, and move forward even in a complex environment. Manufacturers and distributors continue to perform steadily, driven by a combination of professionalism, innovation, and sector-wide collaboration.
The engine of the aftermarket keeps roaring, and everything suggests it still has plenty of fuel for many more miles ahead.
